AirPods Pro 2 review

Apple AirPods Pro 2 headphones review

The 2nd generation Apple AirPods Pro are slightly better than the 1st generation AirPods Pro, but have the same iconic look. The upgraded Apple H2 chip offers more active noise cancellation (ANC) and battery life, while the U1 and built-in speaker make it easy to find accurately on the Find My app.

The new Apple smartwatch looks pretty much the same as the first generation headphones. The chips offer the best battery life, active noise cancellation (ANC) and sound quality in the range.

Features

Barring the glossy white charging cases, the first and second generation AirPods Pro look like twins. This time, Apple adds a silver strap loop and speaker to the empty unit. Instead of playing music, the speaker on the case makes a sound to help find it via the Find My app. You can also hear a beep if the battery is low or pairing is complete. But these beeps can be turned off via the iPhone’s Settings app.

For the first time, Apple’s AirPods come with an IPX4 rated case and earbuds, so both will withstand any splashes or light rain. As before, the case cover is easy to open with your thumb. The headphones with their famous feet slide right out of the case and it’s very easy to guide them back in.

For a secure fit and the best sound quality, experiment with four pairs of Apple silicone earmuffs (XS, S, M, L). The medium size works best, and the earmold fit test (iOS only) confirms this. Not only will it prevent the earbuds from falling out during vigorous movement, but it also blocks out background noise as much as possible.

In addition, it is easier to squeeze the controls on the earpiece when the earpieces fit snugly against the ear canals. Users can control media, listening modes from the new AirPods Pro. When connected to a compatible Apple device, “Hello, Siri” can be used to make hands-free commands and requests.

Additionally

Apple introduces swipe gestures on AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and supports auto play/pause. When you take the headphones out, the music stops and when you put them back in, it resumes. Interestingly, if you have ANC or Transparency mode enabled, it will also turn off when you remove the headphones.

Thanks to the skin detection sensor, music will not resume when you put the headphones in your pocket. They must be touching your skin. The main app for AirPods Pro is iOS/iPadOS Settings. An Apple device will be required to receive firmware updates.

While Android device owners can connect to AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and listen to music or make calls, they will not be able to use the features described. A few things can be accessed from the Settings app in this way, such as the ear piece fitting test previously mentioned.

Once the selected earbuds have been confirmed, it’s time to rename the AirPods, select the listening mode (active noise cancellation on/off, transparency on/off) and adjust the touch and hold function for each earbud. You can also go further and dictate whether the left or right microphones will be used for phone calls.
